madhubani painting and kalam art

Bindass India Exclusive Blog on madhubani painting and kalam art:----
Hope you will like it :-

The name Bihar , Has been derived from the word : " Vihara ", Vihara is one of the special place for Budhist or jainists.
This state is one of the fastest developing state of our india, and it offers us with a variety of things which everyone will
find amazing and fabulous. , Bihar is globally renowned for few unique offerings which is a reflection of its splendid
culture and heritage. Some of these products and offerings are global names due to the intricacies of the craft and
uniqueness.Mithila painting and Patna Kalam, is also one of the offering fron this state, which everyone has found amazing.

Mithila painting & Madhubani Arts::

Mithila Painting is has a large worldwide market today and is a name to reckon with the cognoscente.Especially this style

of painitng is the main offering from Mithialanchal ( in bihar ). Mithila style of paintings has been believed to  be

originated at the time of the Ramayana, when King Janak commissioned artists to do paintings at the time of marriage of

his daughter, Sita, to Lord Ram.

<< For yours information i must tell that Ramayan is one the greatest epics of hinduism, This Ramayana is a story of Lord
Rama , Sita and Raavan. How the Ravana was killed by Lord Rama, after kidnapping of goddess Sita, wife of Lord rama,

How Lord ahanuman helped them and all ...

Mithila painiting is sometimes also called - ' Madhubani Painting ' , due to its origination from Mithilanachal /

Madhubani. Madhubani is a small site-seeing Town of Bihar.

Madhubani painting is traditionally done  by the women of villages around the present town of Madhubani (the literal

meaning of which is forests of honey) and other areas of Mithila. The paintings were traditionally done on freshly

plastered mud wall of huts, but now it is also done on cloth, hand-made paper and canvas. These paintings are still in

popular and are specially done during the marriage ceremonies.

In Mithila, painting is normally done by women folk in three forms: painting on floor, painting on wall and painting on

movable objects.
There are 3 categories of this painting :-
1. Aripan,
2.wall painting
3. object painting.

Aripan, under the first category, is made on the floor with the paste of arva (crude) rice. This rice paste is called pithar in
the local language. Apart from the floor it is also made on banana and maina leaves and pidhi (wooden seats). Sometimes
during puja, aripan is made on banana leaves and Wooden seats.
The tradition of wall paintings as well as surface paintings for beautification of dwellings and ritual purposes in Mithila
is believed to have survived from the epic period.

Tulsidasa in his holy text of " Ramcharitamanasa " gives a vivid account of Mithila painting decorated for the marriage of

Sita and Rama. The present form of Mithila paintings, also called Madhubani paintings, are the translation of the wall

paintings, floor paintings and terracotta idols onto paper or canvas.

Patna Kalam Art ::

Not many know but Patna is also famous for its unique arts or you may call it an art tradition known as “Patna Kalam”.

During the early 19th century , Britishers apart from trade and commerce in patna were drawn by its Kalam art. Patna was

a thriving centre of art during this period.

With art-loving colonisers regularly thronging the dark and dingy lanes and bylanes of the city for a glimpse of "Patna

Kalam" artists working in their mussavir khanas (art-studios), Patna kalam art gained its importance during British Rule.

And these paintings had a seminal influence on their connoisseurs.
Artists like Richard Cosway and John Smart came to Patna all the way from London to learn the techniques of kalam art

and Sir Charles Doly even tried to commercialise and hardsell the art internationally. Assimilated into phirangi art or

"company painting", Patna Kalam reigned supreme in the realm of Indian art for well over 187 years, beginning 1760.

Patna kalam art is also sometimes called as --" Company art ". This internationally recognised art form is not in popular

in patna, but yes patna gave this art to its international lovers, this art is well recognised in Britain.

It's a worth notable place in Bihar and it has some Historical values too..
Just read the following story below:-
